BH Cosmetics Review

BH Cosmetics-saleRarely do I recommend or even mention makeup brands in my makeup tips and tutorial. With all the hype from popular and highly-endorsed cosmetics, do you really get value for your money? Did they live up to their brand promise? Did you achieve the look their latest model has?

Sometimes, not everything that is expensive or endorsed by the most popular celebrity works well with your skin tone, skin type, and texture. It might not even go well with the look you’re trying to work on. I’ve been recently trying different makeup brands that would really go well with almost anyone and are a par with today’s popular cosmetic brands but, not as pricey and expensive.

If you’ve been reading this blog for quite some time, you may notice that I very often recommend pigmented eyeshadow makeup. Pigmented eye makeup does not streak or cake. It is also long-lasting and easier to blend. Guess what? After months of trying different makeup brands, I got the chance to try BH Cosmetics. Much to my surprise, BH Cosmetics offer what I have been looking for in an eyeshadow, highly pigmented and a variety of colors and shades in every palette at relatively lower prices than other eyeshadow palettes of the same quality and quantity.

The one I tried was the 120-color eyeshadow palette. The colors and shades were great to look at and were very smooth to apply and blend with other shades. Just think of the number of colors you can use individually or blend with other colors to match your clothes or look for the day. You can skip thinking about buying new colors or shades every now and then to suit your needs. The 120-color palette includes a variation of highly pigmented matte and shimmer eyeshadow colors and shades. You can achieve that office day look and transform into that sun-kissed look in just one palette.

I heard that they’re currently having a sale. You don’t want to miss that, do you?

We’ve prepped your face with the right foundation, concealer, and powder, now, we’re going to apply your eyeshadow makeup. Here’s a quick guide to help you through.

Step #1

Choose Sheer Colors for Your Eyeshadow

In our previous posts, we’ve taught you how to apply your concealer to make your eyeshadow makeup stay on longer. Since it’s summer and it’s oily, it’s important to keep color throughout the day. To reflect the season and exude a bright and light look, it is recommended to use sheer colors. For this tutorial, we’re going to use an ivory shade of sheer eyeshadow with a little bit of shimmer. This will give the eye a little bit of texture.

Step #2

Apply Your Eyeshadow Using a Brow Brush

Apply your eyeshadow with an eye brow brush. Start from the inner corner and work your way to the top, perfect. Now in a V shape, right at the brow bone, brush it all down.

Step #3

Put on Your Accent Color

For your accent color in this tutorial, we’re going to use a little bit of a peach shade. Recommended summer accent colors you could use are peach and pink. You can also use neutral colors such as browns and taupe With a bit of color on the brush, work it on your brow bone following a V-shape.

Step #4

Blend Your Colors

It’s important to blend the colors to look natural and fresh and not overdone. This is a great look for work or for play. This gives you a little bit of brightness on right corner of the eyelid.

Step #5

Finish with a Bit of Sheer Shimmer

The last step with eyes is the sheer shimmer. Apply a bit on top and also in the corner. At the very top, near the eyebrow, dab a little bit of shimmer. Then, get a little bit of the shimmer and place it on the very corner of the eye. You could even bring the shimmer underneath the eye. This opens up the eye. Remember, light colors jump out at you and dark receive.

If you have been following our blog, you might have an idea on what theme is for this month. We have been featuring makeup tips just in time for summer. This guide will feature how you can suit your eyebrows just in time for summer.

Step #1

Your eyebrows are very important and are often neglected. The brows frame your eyes so, you can start by raising the corner of the eye. First, you get your small eyebrow brush and brush your brows up. Then, go from the corner of the nose to the corner of the eye. If there’s excess on the top, brush them down. What you can do is put a little bit of hairspray or gel on your brush or comb so it can set in place. If you notice that you have excess eyebrow hair, you can simply use little scissors to trim it.

Step #2

After raising you brows a little, you now have markers on where your brows should be. What you do now is to get an eye liner brush and dip it in some powder. For blondes, you can go for taupe. For dark hair, you can go with either gray or brown. Just be careful with your color of choice. You don’t want to go too dark because that will make you look heavy which is contrary to what summer is all about.

Step #3

When you’ve chosen the shade that you will use, tap your brush out for any excess powder. Then, start applying using inside upward movements. At the end, you can do a little fade out. Make sure that it looks natural and it blends with your hair and eye makeup.

In just three easy steps, you got right there your perfect brow.

Anyone can have a beautiful face. It is all in the technique of properly applied make up. It is true that the eyes are the window to the soul, so here are some makeup tips for your the most stunning eyes. First of all, start with a clean and moisturized face.

  • Apply a light concealer to the entire eyelid to even the tone
  • Choose your colors. If you are putting on make up for daytime, then it should be a lot less dramatic than if you were going out on the town in the evening. More natural colors are a better choice.
  • Start with the darkest color and apply it closest to your lash line. If you use eyeliner, then you may apply this color over your eyeliner. You may also want to blend this color under your lower lash line as well, for a more defined look.
  • Next you will need to blend a color that is a little lighter in shade than the first.
  • Lastly, apply the lightest shade up to the brow line. Take a brush and gently brush over the whole lid to blend the colors and make the defining lines of color disappear.

If you want to brighten your eyes, apply some of the lighter shade of eye shadow to the inside corner of your eyes.

If you want a cat-like appearance to your eyes apply the following makeup tips:

  • brush the medium and dark shades in triangle shape at the outer corner of your eye starting at where your upper lash line starts and up to where your eye creases.
  • Come inside over your crease with the brush 1/4 of the way back to over and down.
  • Blend with the entire outside 1/2 of your eyelid.

With mascara, makeup tips include using a wide wand and carefully brush your lashes from the base outward. There are several colors of mascara. The blackest black is the most popular. However, you can use brown-black or even navy blue. This is clearly a matter of choice. Practice and experiment to decide what looks best on you.

Many eye shadow compacts are already produced with three or more colors that compliment each other and the makeup tips to apply them. It makes it easier to blend proper colors for the best look. If you are interested in a more dramatic look, then use darker complimentary shades and even some eye shadow that has a more glittery than matte finish.

Pink is no longer a baby girl’s or teen’s color. Nowadays, women of all ages put in pink eye makeup every once in while. This tutorial will help you achieve beautiful pink eye makeup as well as provide helpful techniques in makeup application. For the eye shadow base, it is recommended to use a really sheer, but iridescent pink silver eye shadow. The iridescence gives of an elegant kind of shimmer or shine but not too much. This shade is really light so, you can really pile this on. As far as base colors are concerned, that’s normally the rule. You really want to pick something that’s neutral enough that you can really put on. This shade will provide a really nice palette which can make your colors stand out much better. This shade of pink will also go really well with other pink shades you can blend in later on.

To apply, take a nice, big brush and apply on the eyelid. You really can’t go wrong with the base makeup. You can just pile it on, all over the lid, from the lash line, all the way up to under the brow. Then, look up and put it a few strokes underneath the eye which will give a nice highlight. Make sure it’s all blended in and add more if you want. Since what we’re using a really sheer color, it’s pulling up a little bit of pink, a little bit of silver, but still very sheer and iridescent. From one eye to the next, putting a little bit of a base color on, makes a huge difference.

For the eyelid, we’ll spice it up use a vibrant fuchsia pink. Using a very small brush, apply the vibrant pink eyeshadow just on the lid area. The vibrant pink eyelid color would really stand out against the pink silver base. The combination of iridescence of the colors will make this look phenomenal. You can put it on as dark as I you can and still be very vibrant, beautiful, and natural. Another helpful technique is to pat it onto the lid so that the color will stay longer. Little by little, keep on adding and adding, going right from the base of the eyelashes all the way up to the crease. Only go as far as the crease of the eye. Just stay on the area all around the ball of the eye, or where the eye protrudes. Keep on blending so that there are no harsh lines. Blend until everything looks very even like it belongs in unison with one another. Since the eyeshadow base has iridescence, it brings out a beautiful little shimmer on the eyelids. Just like what we did with the makeup base, brush in a little bit underneath the eye. A few strokes would be enough just to balance everything out. The technique is all balance, blending and balance until everything just looks perfect together. It’s amazing what adding one extra shade of eyeshadow can do.

Almost everyone knows the basics of applying eyeshadow makeup especially, girls’ favourite shade, pink. This tutorial will help you highlight your usual pretty pink makeup to a funky smokey pink look.

Step 1:

The first step is to add a bit of brow highlight and a highlight on the inside corner of the eye.  For this tutorial, we’re going to use a light pink silver color. To highlight your eye, take a nice big brush and put the color just directly under the brow. Apply a few strokes underneath the brow and on the inside corner of the eye. Apply a little bit at a time, until you get a nice highlight. This will make your eyes appear fuller and give a finished look.

Step 2:

Then, using a pencil brush, take the same color and add a little bit to the inside corner of the eye. Adding a little bit of a highlight to the inside corner of the eye is an easy but really skillful technique because it opens up your eye, brightens it, and makes it look really funky.

Step 3:

Next is to add a crease color to your pink makeup. A great technique is to add a deep purple eyeshadow. Choosing a deep purple eyeshadow will go with any of the cools, like the pinks and plums. This will go great with the pink or fuchsia color onto the crease and at the same time give it a smokey look. Using a fluffy crease brush, dip the brush right into the deep purple eye shadow palette, shake, and go right into the crease of her eye. Just take a little bit on the brush at a time. Adding too much will make it hard to get off.

Step 4:

In applying on the crease, which is the end of the eye, brush it in a sideways V and fill it in. It is recommended to not go too far in the middle. Stop toward the middle of the eye and condense it at the end so that the eye goes light to dark. Make sure it’s all blended with no harsh lines. Little by little, add more and more color, depending on how deep you want to go. If you want to make it a little more smokey, add a little bit more. See the difference of adding a little bit of deep plum tone to the eye. It just made the pink eyeshadow a little more subtle and at the same time gave a funky flair.

Begin with using the right foundation. The best way to choose a foundation is to take three similar shades and swipe them on the side of your skin. Set for just a minute, blend it down, and then you can see which one fits your skin tone. It is very apparent, not something too light but you want something that blends right in to the skin tone. Choosing the right foundation will make everything easier and look natural.

Once you have put some base foundation, we can now start putting on the concealer. A lot of women don’t realize this but, when you put concealer on the eyelid and put a little bit of powder on top, it keeps your eyeshadow on all day and keeps it from creasing. Applying concealer and powder over the eyelids, will keep your sweat and natural oils from coming through and will keep your mascara and eye makeup in place.

It is also recommended to apply some eye cream. Applying concealer on dry eyelids will only make your eyes look really dry because the eye would suck up the moisture from the concealer and it would start to go into the lines. One technique to resolve this is to just put your eye cream right on the corner edge of your eye and gently pat with your index finger.

Use a concealer that is about half a shade lighter. Brushing it on and tapping it with a finger afterwards just to smooth it out. Pat it over the whole eyelid to even out the whole skin tone then proceed to other eyelid. Take a peek every now and then to make sure that everything is well blended.

Once done with the concealer you can now move on to the basic eyeshadow. Some eyeshadows don’t look like the color on the package so, it is very important to invest in a good set of eyeshadow with pigment. Finding an eyeshadow with better pigment will make blending easier and give better results. Take your basic color, it is recommended to use a bronze type of gold because it looks best on darker skin, and a flat brush. Tap gently over the entire eyelid. Adding a little bit of shimmer on the eye gives it a little bit more youthful pop. However, if you are a little bit older, you can still wear a little shimmer on top but not all over the eyelid. Gently pat the eyeshadow makeup with your fingers. If you just use a brush, it does not tend to stay on as long. You can smooth it out with just a touch and you’re done with a beautiful base color.

Next, we’re going to do the third color which is the crease color. To do the trick, you can use an angled eyeshadow brush to give a lifted look of the eye. Close your eye and create a V in the corner. It is really easy and an angled brush fits perfectly on the corner. Brush up and softly blend to achieve a lifted eye look. Do the same for the other eye. Always tap your brush to get rid of the excess eyeshadow. Using enough amount of eyeshadow makeup will save time in cleaning the excess powder that may fall underneath the eye.

Make Up Techniques for Darker Skin
The eyes are one of the most important features that stand out from a blooming bride’s look. This tutorial will help you achieve a gorgeous wedding look, suited for darker skin tones . To make the eyes stand out a bit more, we’re going to teach you to do a “tight line,” as professionals call it.

Step 1:

To start, look half way. Then, lift up the eyelid and just gently put black eyeliner right at the root of the lashes. This makes the lashes look fuller and it frames the eye more. Doing this first with just one eye let’s you compare and see the difference. While applying the black eyeliner, avoid getting any inside the inner rim. If this happens, you can take a Q-tip and gently take off what might have got in the inside rim.

Step 2:

Now that you’re done with the tight line, you’re now ready to move onto basic eyeshadow. It is recommended to use a makeup line that has a lot of pigment. Makeup lines that do not have a lot of pigment tend to go ashy and are generally found at drugstores. Often times, the actual pigment doesn’t look like the color on the package, so it is very important to invest in a good set of eyeshadow with stronger pigment. With your makeup in hand, take your basic color. It is recommended to use a bronze type gold because it looks best on darker skin. Using a flat brush, tap gently all over the whole entire eyelid. For younger women, a little bit of shimmer gives the eyes a little bit more pop. If you are a little bit older, you can still wear a little shimmer right at the top but not shimmer all over. Shimmer typically does not stick as good with just a brush, so  you may consider giving it a little pat down with a fingertip or tissue.

Step 3:

Next up, we are going to do the the crease color. An angled eyeshadow brush really gives a lifted look of the eyes. The first step is to close your eye and create a V in the corner. It is really easy and an angled brush will fit perfectly into the eyelid corner. Always brush up and blend so that your eyes can achieve a lifted look. Do the same on the other eye. Another technique is to always tap your brush to get rid of the excess eyeshadow. This will keep it from dropping underneath the eye and that saves all the time of having to clean up again and reapply eye cream and concealer.

Step 4:

Now for a finishing touch, we’re going to add a little eyeliner on the top. Make sure you have a sharpened point. Start from the outer edge, lifting the eyelid up gently and just apply a nice soft touch on the eye. Using black eyeliner is very common unless, you want to use just a little pop of color, you can use a dark purple. Take a sponge and softly smudge for a more dramatic effect. Just blend the eyeliner up really nice and soften. For a little extra touch, put a small amount of liner underneath. To finish, softly smudge the corners to get a perfect look.
